Electronic and universal waste, such as fluorescent tubes and consumer batteries, are prohibited from the trash. These wastes contain a variety of toxic components like lead, cadmium and mercury, arsenic and flame retardants, and when dumped in a landfill, these materials can contaminate the soil and ground water, thus impacting surrounding areas.
Examples of electronic waste include: microwaves, T.V.’s, computer monitors and towers, cell phones, ipods, DVD players, stereos, etc.
Examples of Universal Waste Include: used motor oil and filters, batteries, fluorescent tubes and bulbs, SHARPS, etc.
If you are a residential customer, you may schedule up to two free Bulky Item Pickups that include electronic items (this is good for large appliances like refrigerators or washing machines).
