The process of my making is an attempt to address identity within the modern world upon the existence of exclusion.  Early on my choice of medium was the camera.  At the end of my first undergraduate study in 2002, I took an art class in the medium of photography.  It was a life-changing experience, for I discovered that making was for me the greatest form of expressing my experience.  Several years later after completing my BFA at the Herron School of Art and Design and my MFA at Mills College, my work evolved as I experimented with various mediums.

In my current work I deconstruct found encyclopedias as a means of creating a medium that communicates this feeling of being on the outside, as well as providing a possible resolution to the search for a place of inclusion and identity as an outsider.  Deconstructing and reconstructing all aspects of this widely published tome enables me to have a more personal, intimate alliance in working with this material.  Through the process of working with the material I explore my behavior upon the continuance of omission when I remove more and more information.
