All food scraps, food-soiled paper (without shiny plastic coating), approved compostable bags, yard waste, and untreated wood go in the green food and yard waste bin.

RECYCLING
Paper, bottles, cans, and most plastics (empty, clean, and dry materials only). Mercer Island residential, multi-family, and commercial garbage service includes recycling collection at no additional charge. For additional material that cannot fit inside your cart place next to your cart in a 2’x2’x2′ cardboard box.

LandfillBin

GARBAGE
What’s left? Not much! Thin plastics (plastic bags and food packaging), pet litter, foam trays and containers, empty paint cans, broken glass and ceramics to name a few. We aim to send as little material to the landfill as possible.

*Once each calendar year, Mercer Island residential customers may place up to one cubic yard of garbage plus two non-appliance bulky items (i.e. mattresses, couches, chairs) for collection at no additional charge. Recycling

Mercer Island residential garbage service includes recycling collection service at no additional charge. Your recycling cart will be emptied every-other-week on your service collection day.
